Announcement of the 9th Kyoto 24-hour Unremitting Nembutsu Prayer Retreat by Online.

26th September 2020 (Friday)〜27th September 2020 (Saturday)

In view of the spread of the COVID-19, however, we have decided to hold this event remotely, just like the Tokyo 24-hour Buddhist prayer vigil in May.
As in the past, the main venue of the event will be at Shojokein, the main headquarters of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, as the central base for the live transmission of the Nembutsu prayer.
In view of the spread of the new corona virus, however, we have decided to hold this event remotely, just like the Tokyo 24-hour Buddhist prayer vigil in May.
As in the past, the main venue of the event will be at Shojokein temple, the main headquarters of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, as the central base for the live transmission of the Nembutsu prayer. Also Kanchiin Temple, the secretariat of the 24-hour vigil Nembutsu Conference, as well as sister temple Tamonin Temple, will transmit the Nembutsu prayer from various related locations, and live Nembutsu transmissions and Nembutsu pilgrimages will be provided from all over for the 24 hours of the event to be conducted remotely.

Due to COVID-19, Shojokein temple will not be receiving any participants on the day of the event. We ask that you participate online. We apologize for this situation and thank you for your understanding.

We hope that you will watch the live webcast of the Nembutsu Ceremony from Shojokein temple, Kanchiin temple from and other locations around the world, and you will join Nenbutsu chanting in homes.
In addition to watching the webcast, you can also participate in the online Nembutsu prayer session via ZOOM from your home or other related locations using your computer or smartphone.

What is the 24-hour Unremitting Nembutsu Prayer?

2This is a 24-hour, non-stop Nembutsu prayer. We just keep chanting "Nam-amidabutsu".
On the way, we will also add the ritual of "Gotai Tōchi", prostration and the Nembutsu by gyōdō (walking around the Buddha).

Internet broadcast

The Nembutsu prayer will be streamed online 24 hours a day.
Please join us in praying in front of your computer at home.
Also, there will be 24 hours live streaming of the Nembutsu ceremony by Nembutsu friends and related staff from all over the world.
